The temptation is to begin with hardware that promises a result. A measurement-first approach starts by deciding which behavior matters, what can be observed, and how a change will be compared against a trustworthy baseline.

Build the evidence loop

A lap time is useful, but it hides the path that produced it. Driver inputs, vehicle response, conditions, and configuration make the result explainable enough to learn from.

The same discipline that keeps a lab claim honest applies at the track: label the environment, retain the baseline, and resist conclusions the sensors cannot support.
